Dr. George Engstrom
A 1968 graduate of the University of Minnesota Veterinary School with a strong interest in small animal medicine and bovine fertility led Dr. Engstrom to begin his career in a mixed animal practice in Hagerstown, Maryland. The need for specialization soon led to an all-small animal practice. His hobbies and interests have always revolved around the care and husbandry of animals. The list now includes Dorset and Jacob sheep, Milking Devonshire cows, llamas, alpacas, Norwegian Fjord horses, Tennessee Walking horses, Lacey and Lucy his Poodles, and Bozman his Golden Retriever. He is never more content than when he is tending his animals! Dr Engstrom enjoys spending his free time traveling and horseback riding.
Dr. Jennifer Dolan
Dr. Dolan grew up in Reston, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. She went to Virginia Tech for her undergraduate studies, earning a B.S. in biology. She went on to earn a M.S. in biology from The College of William and Mary and returned to Virginia Tech to earn her DVM at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She joined Cumberland Valley Veterinary Clinic in 1996. She is married to a dairy veterinarian, Dr. Edward Wurmb, and has a young daughter, Abigail. Her family also includes 4 horses,4 dogs - 2 of which are rescues, 5 cats, 3 rabbits, 3 goats and 2 cows.. Dr. Dolan's greatest passion includes horseback riding; she participates in horse trials and combined training. She also enjoys golfing, skiing, antiquing, and gardening. She is a member of Hagerstown Sunrise Rotary Club and prior to the birth of her daughter enjoyed volunteering at a local horseback riding program for the handicapped. Go Hokies!
Dr. Rob Russon
Dr. Russon grew up catching snakes and lizards in the deserts and mountains of Utah. He earned two degrees from Utah State University; one in Wildlife Science and one in Animal Science, including a job for the Utah State Fish and Game Department in between degrees. He graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985 and followed this with an internship at the Denver zoo, which he absolutely loved. His marriage to an U.S. Army officer took him all over the country, including jobs in Idaho, Utah, Michigan, Colorado, Washington, and four glorious years in Alaska. After four years in a holistic veterinary practice in Baltimore he joined Cumberland Valley Veterinary Clinic in the fall of 1999 and has loved working here ever since. Dr. Russon has two children, Jody and Gina. He enjoys golf, iceskating, hockey, cycling, hiking, opera, art history, and theater.
Dr. Marie Eckl
Dr. Eckl is originally from Elk County, Pennsylvania. After earning a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Alfred University she worked as an environmental educator on Long Island, New York for two years. In addition to her duties as an educator Dr. Eckl also cared for disabled wildlife and discarded pets, which were used in the educational programs. It was this animal contact that sparked a renewed interest in becoming a veterinarian. In 2000 Dr. Eckl graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and accepted a position in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She joined the team of Cumberland Valley Veterinary Clinic in August 2002. In her free time Dr. Eckl enjoys traveling, socializing, camping, fishing, movies, and spending time with her housemates, six frisky felines.
 

Dr. Diana Saxton
Dr. Saxton grew up an active athlete in Sykesville, Maryland, playing everything from soccer, basketball, softball and track to boys lacrosse.  She attended Bridgewater College, a small liberal arts school in Virginia and earned a bachelor of science in biology.  While at Bridgewater, Dr. Saxton played on the college’s women’s soccer team, including games in both Germany and Holland.  In 2008 she graduated with her DVM from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and joined the Cumberland Valley Veterinary team. GO BUCKS!  She is married to her high school sweetheart, a Department of Defense civilian, Staff Sergeant in the Maryland Army National Guard and Iraqi war veteran.  Dr. Saxton shares her home with a mischievous Bengal cat, Ace, and a yellow Labrador retriever, Dakota, who is a registered therapy dog.  She enjoys scrapbooking, playing and watching sports, especially the Baltimore Ravens, skiing and cooking.
